Child & Adult Voice

A laryngoscopic examination by an otolaryngologist (Ear Nose Throat specialist) should preceed referral to a speech & language therapist for disorders of the voice. This procedure will identify or rule out the presence of vocal fold pathology.

Voice therapy is an approach to treating voice disorders that involves vocal and physical exercises coupled with behavioral changes. The purpose of voice therapy is to help you attain the best possible voice and the most relief from the vocal symptoms that impact your quality of life.

Voice therapy involves teaching good vocal hygiene, eliminating vocal abuses, and direct voice treatment to alter pitch, loudness, or breath support for good voicing. Stress reduction techniques and relaxation exercises are often taught in tandem.
